Google Workspace Prices Are Going Up in 2025. Here’s What You Need to Know.

Brace yourselves—Google Workspace is getting pricier in 2025. With Gemini AI now baked into all business tiers, Google is upping the cost across the board for both Flexible and Annual/Fixed-Term plans.

Why the Price Hike?

Since launching Google Workspace in 2020, Google has been rolling out a steady stream of updates—more than 300 in 2022 alone. That includes:

  • Built-in appointment scheduling, email marketing in Gmail, and e-signature support in Drive to make customer interactions smoother.
  • Upgrades to Meet and Chat for hybrid teams to collaborate without a hitch.
  • AI-powered security features like automated classification, Trust Rules in Drive, and phishing and malware protection in Calendar and Drive.

All great stuff, but these upgrades come at a cost—hence, the price bump. The upside? Google is also introducing new commitment options to help businesses lock in lower rates.

What’s Changing?

If you're on a Flexible Plan, here’s what your wallet will feel per user:

  • Business Starter: $8.40 (was $7.20)
  • Business Standard: $16.80 (was $14.40)
  • Business Plus: $26.40 (was $21.60)

For Annual/Fixed-Term plans:

  • Business Starter: $7 (was $6)
  • Business Standard: $14 (was $12)
  • Business Plus: $22 (was $18)

Want to soften the blow? Google is introducing an Annual Plan purchase option across all editions, letting businesses lock in the lowest per-user price with a longer-term commitment.

When Does This Happen?

  • New customers: The new pricing starts January 16, 2025.
  • Existing customers on Flexible Plans: Prices start climbing March 17, 2025.
  • Annual/Fixed-Term Plans: Your price updates on your next renewal date after March 17, 2025.
  • Plan changes (downgrades, upgrades, or switching plans) after January 16, 2025 will follow the new pricing.

Who’s Safe From the Price Jump?

No changes for:

  • Workspace for Education (including Gemini Education add-ons)
  • Workspace for Nonprofits
  • Frontline, Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, and Workspace Individual plans
  • Personal Google accounts (including Google One AI Premium subscribers)
