The Challenge
Wolters Kluwer needed to modernise its sales strategy to adapt to new digital demands. The company faced the challenge of transforming its sales strategy in the Benelux region by optimising the digitalisation and automation of processes to improve customer experience and efficiently manage all its business lines.
Solution
Wolters Kluwer contacted us to assist and guide them in transforming their sales strategy towards an advanced digital environment. Initially, we conducted a thorough requirement gathering based on Wolters Kluwer's specific needs, followed by a detailed analysis to identify the best technological solutions to meet those needs. Throughout the process, we worked closely with their team to make strategic decisions that aligned the new e-commerce platform with their digitalisation and automation goals. For the implementation of Wolters Kluwer's new e-commerce platform serving the Benelux region (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg), we adopted a headless approach using Intershop as the core technology.
Why Intershop?
Choosing Intershop meant opting for a robust and scalable solution tailored to the specific needs of both B2B and B2C channels, ensuring a perfect fit for Wolters Kluwer's business model and objectives. Additionally, this technology offers great versatility and flexibility, facilitating the customisation of the solution to meet the specific demands of each market in the Benelux region and enabling complete and efficient integration with Wolters Kluwer's ERP, thereby easing the centralised management of customers, orders, and promotions.
Why headless approach?
Adopting a headless approach, which involves separating the backend from the frontend, allowed for easier integration of updates and continuous improvements without disrupting system operations and optimising site load speed and overall performance.
Our collaboration ensured that the solution not only met Wolters Kluwer's expectations but also provided a modern and robust e-commerce platform capable of efficiently and effectively managing both B2B and B2C channels in the competitive digital market.
Results
In just the first year of the platform's operation, Wolters Kluwer recorded over 50,000 orders, and has since been able to maintain steady growth in an otherwise competitive market. This implementation not only strengthened Wolters Kluwer's leadership position in the sector but also helped build an agile and adaptable digital model ready for future market demands and technological changes, enabling Wolters Kluwer to stay at the forefront of the industry.
